September 30, 2011: The event recognized the founders of the Lied Institute: Florence Skurski, posthumously; Irene Vogel, chief executive officer of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors;  Jack Woodcock, founder-broker, Prudential Americana Group; and Mike Clauretie, professor of economics at UNLV.

"Our founders saw the need for real estate education in Nevada," said Dr. Nasser Daneshvary, director of the Lied Institute. "They worked tirelessly to initiate and develop a successful real estate education program and to form the Lied Institute."
