CALV, local real estate pros clean up graffiti, trash in local park

CALV members and staff volunteered Saturday, Oct. 15, to again clean up trash and graffiti plaguing Winterwood Park on the east side of Las Vegas.

Many members of CALV's staff and board of directors enlisted the help of their children and other family members.

With help, paint and supplies from Clark County, CALV volunteers and their families cleaned and painted over graffiti in this park as part of their continued commitment to maintaining local neighborhoods and improving the quality of life in Southern Nevada.

CALV has organized similar clean-up efforts during the past two years at this park at 2200 Winterwood Blvd., just off of East Sahara Avenue and east of Nellis Boulevard.
To volunteer for future CALV community service events, go to www.calv.org or call (702) 784-5050.

CALV Symposium attracted record crowd

CALV's sixth annual Commercial Alliance Educational Symposium attracted record attendance and rave reviews.

The event was held Sept. 23 at the Gold Coast hotel-casino, attracting nearly 100 commercial real estate professionals in Nevada and neighboring states.

Nationally known commercial real estate instructor Patricia Lynn conducted the morning session.

In addition to earning up to seven hours of continuing education credits by attending morning and afternoon classes, participants were treated to a continental breakfast and a luncheon featuring a lively and informative panel discussion on the future of the commercial real estate industry and its local brokerages.

The distinguished panel of managing directors and executives from top commercial real estate firms in Southern Nevada included: Cathy Jones, of Sun Commercial Real Estate; Hayim Mizrachi, managing director of NAI Global Las Vegas; and Mike Montandon, former North Las Vegas mayor and current managing director of the Voit Real Estate Services office in Las Vegas. CALV President Gary Banner did a stellar job of moderating the discussion.

The panel discussion proved especially popular, prompting several attendees to suggest CALV make this part of future events.
