It is back to school... the hot weather is almost behind us... and we anxiously await for the Fall season.  Like all of you I hope that the economic climate will also improve with increased sales, less foreclosures and less unemployment.

CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME
GLVAR has always been generous helping out in the community each time we receive the call.  This past month we thought it would be beneficial to help our members by offering free school supplies from Kindergarten to High School students.  Thank you to our Charity Committee who was instrumental in putting on a bowling tournament ... their first fund raiser for 2010 and also to the Participants... which netted a profit allowing us to participate in the "back to school" program.  Special kudos to Nadine Morris and Felicia Marks, two of my staff members who shopped for the best buys and organized the distribution.  We made many REALTORS® and their children very happy to start the school year with new supplies.  To quote John Wooden... "You cannot live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."

GOLF TOURNAMENT
The next fund raiser to be chaired by the Charity Committee is our annual golf tournament.  Again we ask your support to make this event successful enabling us to support various community charities as well as our members if needed such as our "back to school" program.  The golf tournament will be held October 4th at the outstanding Red Rock Country Club... .also it is October... not held during the blistering heat of August.  Thank you to Joan Kuptz who helped us obtain the facility.  Sponsorships are available ... such as a tee sponsor for only $250.  Other sponsorships are available as well, just contact Nadine at the Association at 784-5000.  All of us like a SPECIAL - sign up your team members before September 1st and receive a $100 discount.   Our regular price for a team is $800, but if you do not delay the team will only cost you $700. 

NARDIgras 2010
Real estate has a new rhythm this year, so get your groove on at the REALTORS® Conference and Expo to be held at New Orleans, November 5th thru the 8th.  There will be over 125 education sessions - the information you get will be instrumental to your success.  It is estimated that 20,000 real estate professionals will be in attendance.  This will give you the opportunity to increase your referral potential.  Along with all the informational sessions NAR is planning a Celebrity Concert starring Grammy-award winning R & B band Earth, Wind & Fire.
