Your NVAR Membership Brings You Services and Value
Beneficial Services and Money Savings:
We are pleased to have you as a member of the Nevada Association of REALTORS® (NVAR) and want to take this opportunity to tell you about the benefits you receive as a member.
As the state counterpart to the National Association of REALTORS®, NVAR works with Nevada’s 5 local REALTOR® associations to deliver the tools and information you need to be successful in your profession.
#1 Member Service
The voice of the members has been heard as they proclaim the Legal Information Line as the
#1 service provided by NVAR. You can access an NVAR attorney 5 days a week (M-F), from 8 am to 5 pm. Given the multi-faceted nature of each real estate transaction, this continues to provide you with helpful information. Your calls are being answered at the rate of more than 7,000 per year.
This saves you time and money to obtain legal information as a dues benefit!
Government Affairs
NVAR provides you with a comprehensive government affairs program on the state and local level. Your REALTOR® interests are protected in the Nevada Legislature, State regulatory bodies and commissions, and City Councils. REALTOR® party candidates are identified and supported. Integrating the government affairs of all of the associations allows for collaborative and unified efforts to most effectively achieve our goals and enhance your profession in Nevada.
While the '09 Legislature increased the existing Modified Business Tax (MBT) on a wide range of Nevada employers, the increased tax burden did not fall on Nevada REALTORS® across the state. Although the Legislature gave serious consideration to expanding the applicability of the MBT to independent contractors (you), NVAR's lobbying efforts were successful in beating back such a proposition. Under the proposal considered by legislators in the waning days of the session, your tax burden would have increased by $183.50 per year.*
* Based on Proposed Amendment 4969, May 14th and based on an annual income of $36,700, the median income of a REALTOR® in 2008, according to the NAR Annual Member Profile.

RNPT funds are used to support or oppose federal, state or local issues that impact private property in Nevada.

NVAR established the Nevada Homeownership Alliance (NHA) for the purpose of education and funding issues affecting real property ownership. The NHA is currently developing grant proposals to receive monies for affordable housing and foreclosure prevention.

NVDataMine
The NVDataMine, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of NVAR. It is a combination of an information database on voters in Nevada and public opinion survey work. By overlaying data, key information can be obtained on business issues. One such project undertaken in 2009 was the Face of Foreclosure which more accurately identified the Nevadan in foreclosure. This report can be found on www.nvar.org.
NVAR works diligently on your behalf. The primary NVAR office, located in Reno, currently has a staff of 9 to serve you.
2010 Dues
To be able to continue to serve you at this level of professionalism, NVAR dues for 2010 will be raised by $60. NVAR has not had a general dues increase since 1999. This dues increase amounts to 17 cents per day or one specialty coffee drink per month. NVAR asks for your continued support as we strive to meet your needs in this ever changing real estate environment in Nevada.
